Cherry-Spinach Protein Smoothie

Set yourself up for success with this protein-packed smoothie. A high-protein breakfast helps control appetite during the day and keeps your hormones happy. This smoothie has over 25 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber and an array of vitamins and minerals.

SERVES: 1 PREP TIME: 3 Minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened plant-based milk (almond, coconut, rice, flax, etc.)

  • ¼ cup frozen cherries (pits removed, no sugar added)

  • 1 cup fresh or ½ cup frozen spinach (or other power greens)

  • 1 scoop (about 1/3 cup) vanilla plant-based protein powder

  • 2-3 ice cubes (optional) for a thicker smoothie

Instructions

  1. Add all the ingredients to a blender jar. Blend until smooth and serve right away.

Tip: Buy pre-washed spinach, kale or power greens mix and freeze in gallon bags (do not cook first). Freeze.  Before use, crush the frozen greens (in the bag) with your hands to make it easy to scoop.  Keep frozen and use within 2 weeks. 

Also Try:

Frozen strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, mango, banana or other favorite fruit.

 Add ½ ripe avocado, 2 Tablespoons peanut or almond butter, or 1 tablespoon ground flax seed for healthy fats.

 In place of plant milk, try unsweetened Greek yogurt or kefir.
